Divine Worship
As Lutheran Christians, God calls us together around His Word and Sacraments and gives us the gifts He promises to give—namely, forgiveness of sins, new life in Christ, and salvation—as we hear the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We refer to what happens in worship on Sunday as Divine Service, because God comes to us through the Means of Grace to give us His gifts: God (Divine) + giving us gifts (Service).

Traditional Worship
Traditional worship (Divine Service) at Zion Lutheran Church features God’s Holy Word and Sacraments framed and supported by traditional Christian music. We feel very strongly about our Lutheran faith and heritage and, with this in mind, we value strong preaching based on God’s Holy Word. Confessing our sins and hearing of God’s forgiveness by the merits of Jesus is a part of every worship service. Additionally, we confess our faith using one of the three Ecumenical Creeds of the Church. God creates among us meaningful and fulfilling worship (Divine Service) as He feeds us with His Word and Sacraments and meets our spiritual needs. Traditional Christian music is integrated into the Divine Service in such a way that praise, glory, and honor, brought about only through the leading of the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacrament is focused on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. These Means of Grace, supported by thoughtfully chosen traditional music, provide a meaningful and gratifying encounter with our Lord for those who join with us.

Important Note
You’ll notice these explanations of Contemporary and Traditional Worship are almost identical. This is intentional! As Lutheran Christians, we value our strong worship heritage; we also enjoy the freedom of various styles of music. In our Divine Services, God is serving us through His Word and Sacraments, so the words of our songs and hymns are based on God’s Word, though the musical styles are varied. To God be the glory!
