Children's Ministry
Our Ministry Goal
When parents bring babies and young children to be baptized they make a solemn promise before the whole church to--
Birth to Three (Cradle Roll)
In the first years after a baby is baptized at Zion, he or she will get periodic mailings from the church. Each will include helpful tips for the parents on how to help their little one grow up in Christ.
Sunday School
Zion’s Sunday School offers weekly classes for children, age 3 through 5th grade. The classes meet during the Sunday education hour, 10:15-11:15 a.m. Beginners (age 3-kinder) meet with their teachers in the fellowship hall for the day’s lesson and activities. Primary (grades 1 & 2) meet in the School Library and Elementary (grades 3-5) meet in the Music Room. Friends and visitors are always welcome. Classes are not held on Easter Sunday.
The New Sunday School year begins every year with a Rally Day (or Promotion Sunday) celebration on the Sunday before Labor Day. Parents register their children, children meet their teachers, and special activities are planned for all.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
At Zion our VBS engages and enriches the children not just for the week but for a lifetime. We do not teach fairy tales to make VBS fun; God word stands alone, with real characters and true stories. We want Children to see Jesus clearly. Our goal is that children leave VBS knowing their need for a Savior and that their Savior's name is Jesus.
VBS offers children, Pre-K (4 yrs. old) through fifth grade, a week of learning and fun in the heart of the summer vacation. There is no registration fee. VBS dates for 2024: June 17-21.
Our Shepherd Lutheran School
Our Shepherd Lutheran School was expressly founded to offer children an outstanding elementary education in a setting where worship, prayer, and faith-related studies would be part of the daily schedule. Today the school serves children from Kindergarten through eighth grade. For further information visit the school’s website or send a note to the school office.
